Journal Entry: 20 October 2017
Harishchandraghad Trek is what I choose to escape from deafening sounds and disturbing chaos during Diwali, the festival of lights. After a long journey from Pune to the base village, I felt excited with my blood rushing and my eyes wandering to start my first ever trek and camping. I was accompanied by two most important persons of my life and 11 other strangers who just joined us on the trek from different places.
Konkankada
It's a long walk starting from the base village ascending up the hill with my 60L backpack and my darling Canon 1200D DSLR camera. Although there are many spectacular views of the hills throughout the trek, the sunset view at Konkan Kada is breathtaking. Our last minute marathons to not miss the sunset in that wildest paths and our screaming upon witnessing the view are what I never forget about that trip. For me, sunrise and sunset are always sights to behold. But, this one at that altitude, with that aroma and to that anxiety is distinct from others.Camping site near Konkan kada |
The Camping and Sunrise
It was my first camping experience and it went pretty well. As all the fellow travelers got tired because of the trek, there is no great interaction or fun activities at the camp which would otherwise made the camping more amusing. We were three including me, my friend and an old man who endured the trek with enormous energy. At dawn, we followed another path uphill to reach Taramathi point which is a perfect place to experience the sunrise.Sunrise point at Taramathi top |
